It would be difficult to make a list of the most iconic American cars of all time without mention of the Ford Model A. Like a Tri-Five Chevy, Corvette, or a Mustang, the Ford Model A is one of those automobiles that is so well known and has enjoyed such long lasting popularity that it has woven itself into the fabric of American culture. Produced from 1927 to 1931, Ford built more than four million Model A's during the four years of production and this 1931 Model A comes from the collection of an elderly gentleman who decided that it's time to hang up the keys for good and wants to pass this coupe onto its next loving owner to begin a new chapter in its life. This Model A is a bone-stock, no-frills coupe and is powered by an original 201ci 4-cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. While the engine is an original Ford unit, it is missing its serial number stamping and thus appears to have been replaced at one point. The black exterior of the coupe is original Henry Ford steel and although it does have some imperfections, it still shows nicely for an eighty-five year old automobile. The doors close nicely and the gaps line up as they should. Inside the cabin the interior has been redone in pale gold mohair with a brown headliner and kick panels, all of which are free of tears or rips and out back the rumble seat has been upholstered in brown vinyl while the dash retains its original gauge cluster and steering wheel with original controls. The Model A rides on a set of yellow original wire-spoke wheels with "Ford" script hubcaps mounted with Sears Allstate wide whitewall tires, with a matching spare mounted to the trunk. Other exterior features include original Ford Twolite headlamps, a Ford-logo spare tire cover, and a set of California Historical Vehicle license plates. While this Model A has been repainted and reupholstered in the past, it is nevertheless a fine survivor and although not perfect, it's a very respectable car that can be enjoyed today.
