Description:
For much of its life, Plymouth was one of the top-selling American automobile brands, and together with Chevrolet and Ford, were commonly referred to as the "low-priced three" marques in the American market. In fact, Plymouth almost surpassed Ford in 1940 and 1941 as the second-most popular make of automobiles in the United States. Back in the Day Classics is proud to represent this very nice and tastefully restored 1940 Plymouth Business Coupe. The 1940 business coupe is presented in a straight and smooth Black 2 stage paint, which is accented nicely with a re-chromed hood ornament as well as front and rear bumpers with bumper guards. All of the body trim, including the window trim and the split windshield trim has been polished and freshened up to give the Plymouth its final touches. Under the hood you will find the correct Plymouth "P" flathead 201ci straight 6 cylinder single barrel carbureted engine producing a whopping 41 horsepower which is backed up by the correct 3 speed manually shifted on the column transmission. Also under the split butterfly opening hood you will find a upgrade 12 volt electrical system with alternator, dual horns and new spark plugs and period correct spark plug wires. Moving inside the Plymouth you will find the interior has been complete restored and freshened up in a soft a smooth gray vinyl with gray carpet and wood accented door sills and dash board. All of the gauges are in working order and were restored including the glass and trim rings. You will also find a period correct under dash heater and spare color matched rim with hand striping but no tire. Behind the seats and going through into the trunk you will see all of the matching gray interior and gray carpet which give the interior a classy and totally finished and clean look. The Business coupe wouldn’t be complete without its 16 inch red painted steel wheels with dual hand stripes and wrapped in Firestone tires and Portawall white wall inserts. This 40’s prohibition runner truly fits the era of the shiners but can cruise to any show locally or toured and enjoyed with your partner in crime!
