Description:
Winning the gold medal of the Comite Francais d'Elegance at the 1959 Brussels World Fair for "exceptional proportioning and elegance of line" Ford boasted that year that they had "The World's Most Beautifully Proportioned Car" for their dramatically redesigned 1959 models. This Country Sedan 6-passenger station wagon is based on the full-size Ford Fairlane, and was built June 16th, 1959 at Ford's San Jose plant. Hailing from Nevada, this Country Sedan is dry and straight with only 64,106 miles showing on the odometer, which are believed to be original. Under the hood, this Country Sedan is powered by an H-code 352ci big block V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor and is mated to a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, which produces 300 horsepower and was Ford's most powerful engine available that year. Repainted its original color of Colonial White, the exterior shows very nicely with few blemishes, while inside, the red and white interior has been redone with new carpet, door panels, and dash pad, along with original-style upholstery while retaining the original headliner, door handles, armrests, dash trim, and cargo area panels. Although not heavily optioned, this Country Sedan features power brakes and power steering to help control the big block 352, while other features inside the cabin include gauges for fuel and temperature, warning lights for oil pressure and generator charging, and and original Ford AM radio in the dash that works great. To give this station wagon a more aggressive appearance, it rides on a set of Weld Racing wheels mounted with 205/70R15 tires up front with 235/75R15's out back for a staggered look. Although a mid-level trim offering below the Country Squire, the absence of wood-grain panels on this Country Sedan that were found on the Country Squires give this station wagon a much cleaner appearance than its higher-priced brethren and the white exterior shows great alongside the red interior, which is always a timeless color combination. Overall this Country Sedan is a great looking car with power to boot and runs and drives wonderfully and as a classic station wagon, it not only looks good but is useful too. With that combination of looks and utility, this 1959 Ford Country Sedan can't be beat.
