Produced from 2003 to 2006, the Subaru Baja was an all-wheel-drive crossover vehicle that combined the handling of a car with the versatility of a truck much like the iconic Chevrolet El Camino or Ford Ranchero and whose look was said to be inspired by rally racing trucks. This 2003 Subaru Baja shows 183,333 miles on the odometer and is equipped with Subaru's well known EJ25 4-cylinder boxer engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and produces 165 horsepower and 166 ft. lbs. of torque. The Baja Yellow and Silver Stone Metallic exterior of the Baja shows well for its age while the black and gray leather interior is in remarkable shape and shows excellently. Fully loaded, it came standard with just about every option imaginable on a modern car including power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power driver's seat, power mirrors, cruise control, power moonroof, fog lights, limited slip rear differential, front airbags, factory roof rack, and keyless entry, while the optional accessories include a bed extender, auto dimming rearview mirror with compass, and a premium sound package consisting of a speaker upgrade, tweeters in the front doors, and a subwoofer and amplifier. The Baja rides on a set of nearly new Uniroyal Tiger Paw 225/60R15 tires mounted on factory 16" alloys. The brainchild of senior Subaru designer Peter Tenn who wanted to to pay homage to rally racing trucks, the Subaru Baja was "supposed to look funky, look different. It doesn't fit any category, and we knew that going in. It's not like anything else on the road. And that's important to a lot of people." Overall this Baja shows very well for its age and is definitely in a league of its own when it comes to looks, but with just over thirty-three thousand built over the entire course of production, it just might be the next classic import of tomorrow.
